This is part of our session for the online day at Global Donut Days 2024. Please register here or to view recordings of any of the sessions.
These pages will remain online so we can continue the discussion in the comments.
A key part of Strategic Doing is that you start with what you’ve got. Identifiying your assets, including the hidden assets of your members that they are willing and able to share. And then you combine those assets to create more opportunities.
Our assets and opportunities included:
each member’s knowledge, skills, and extended networks and connections
Substack (free), Zoom (Gayle’s account), government reports on sustainable housing, transport, and development, and the DEAL website
We had an opportunity with a major sustainability event run by Brisbane City Council coming up in late May
We have no funding and do not seek it
And then you combine those assets to create more.
Another principle of Strategic Doing is to have a lot of small wins that you can leverage to maintain momentum.
So, we joined in with this event where the stall was already organised by people within our group and network, printed and laminated some posters from the DEAL website, put them on A-frames belonging to one member, and Regen Brisbane was launched to the Brisbane community.
We shared the photos on our website, newsletter, and social media to maximise the value from that activity and to create more signposts back into the group.
Regen Brisbane has no physical base to meet so for our Global Donut Days 2024 event, we collaborated with the same groups who have access to a library room and will provide catering and additional promotion to their members.
will now talk about and the different resources they had to start with.
