TMR Policies for Transport
TMR policies that support walkable lifestyles - in theory and policy, if not always in practice.

This includes sections for roads, public transport, cycling etc but most importantly there is a section on Pedestrians and walking
Within that Objectives and priorities for walking where they state:
Changes we want to see for walking in 10 years are detailed in our 5 objectives:
more walking, more often
our communities are planned to make walking enjoyable and convenient
our streets and paths are welcoming, safe, connected and comfortable for all ages and abilities, and support vibrant local communities
walking is an attractive and easy choice, particularly for short transport trips, tourism, recreation and health
walking is a high priority in policy and planning, delivered through partnerships and supported by evidence.
Movement and Place
Movement and place is their latest initiative that “seeks to balance the transport network's role in the movement of people and goods with the role of transport corridors, nodes and precincts, as places that are essential to live, shop, work, carry out business and socialise.” The video below is an introduction.
