Urban Heat and Heat Islands Workshop
How might we come together to do innovative collaborations, at scale and speed, to mitigate and adapt to urban heat, and to create a more sustainable region?
Wednesday 5th February was Extreme Heat Awareness Day. We know the problem, we know many of the things that need to be done to tackle the causes, we have many organisations working to address the impact, but do we know how to bring about the systemic changes necessary? How can we turn talk into action?
In this blog post, Brisbane’s green future: Climate action strategies aligned with sustainable development goals, Ali Cheshmehzangi talks about the need for “collaborations with local communities, businesses, and academic institutions”, “neighbourhood-based projects” and “collaboration [that] promotes a sustainable culture throughout the city.”
This is spot on, but how do we make it happen at the scale and speed required?
During February, we will work with
and The Shady Lanes Project to explore how we all might come together to do these collaborations, at scale and speed, to mitigate and adapt to urban heat.Urban Heat and Heat Islands Workshop

The main reason why people are not supporting your premise is the temperature readings are at the extreme levels - namely min and max levels
To make accurate conclusions you need accurate data. - you need the mode temperature readings which to my knowledge no one has.
Because mode data is not available then people are not on board with your premise. So the world and its political leaders are not as one with the argument. The world is divided - so until there is some form of support, the issue will continue. Until data that supports your argument is recorded and leads to accurate analysis, then world support will continue to be divided. It is a pity but it is reality.
