There is no mode data recorded on temperatures. Only min and max readings

An individual can't collect the mode temperature data - it will only be seen as being manipulated if it is collected by an individual. Realistically it can only be done by the Weather Bureau but that relies on government funding which I suspect the Weather Bureau does not have. You need to get government on side to obtain funds and in turn collect the data. Even if that data is collected by a regrettable organisation, it will still be challenged as we live in a society that runs on true data that is classified as fake data and so not correct such as (in this case) only looking at the max temperature and not the temperature that mostly occurs in a day and that has changed over time. If a local political representative is not willing to take up the above, then you need to run for Parliament. Laws in the long term get things done until they themselves are changed into other laws.

There is plenty of data being collected by many government agencies, researchers in universities, and scientists in Australia and world-wide. If you want that sort of data, go and find it.

Individuals can do a lot to change their local environment. There is plenty of data that shows the heating effects of hard surfaces like roads and the cooling effects of street trees. Yet, many councils struggle to increase the tree canopy because residents refuse to have one, and some kill them. The only way to get the message through is often for someone to walk down the street and feel the difference when they walk into the shade.

Do you have a street tree in front of your home? Do your neighbours? If not, what might make you all want one?

I have read all your notes, comments but none of them will go anywhere - You need to get politics on your side. The most important conclusion is the one you missed and that is to talk to your local, state and federal politicians. And hopefully get some changes. Having get togethers is ok but leads nowhere, The main issue you still have and you will have this when you speak to your local representative is that there is no mode temperature data to back up or support your argument.

Lindsay - I completely agree someone ought to be collecting temperature data to support these discussions. Would love it if you could share your methodology for how you do that, so maybe we can replicate it for our streets and suburbs.
