Zoom Conversation Notes 21-6-2024
At today’s Zoom session, nine of us talked about the sort of things we could do by combining our very diverse interests, skills, and backgrounds (assets).
Building on the conversations at our Zoom two weeks ago (summary), on today’s Zoom session, nine of us talked about the sort of things we might do by combining our very diverse interests, skills, and backgrounds (assets).
These have to be doable - not so big that they are out of reach. As we progress through small steps and build our network, bigger things will become doable.
We discussed posting articles on the Regen Brisbane Substack (and sharing them on social media) about the good work that is already being done around Brisbane e.g. The Nest at Brendale, The Gap Sustainability Initiative and various repair cafes. Articles can be posted on the original author’s substack and shared or “restacked”.
Do the Doable - Now
Penny asked if she could read articles from our Substack on her regular radio spot. The consensus was that copyright on all Substack posts belongs to the person who wrote the post, so she should contact the authors to get the ok, and then provide acknowledgment at the end of the talk.
Monica is going to prepare a post about the Seeds and Sovereignty https://www.qagoma.qld.gov.au/exhibition/seeds-and-sovereignty exhibition at GOMA and how that relates to our aims.
Robyn and Saskya will work together on articles related to waste management and sustainability.
Possible joint articles on PDAs and what positive things they can do. eg Carseldine Urban Village and Fitzgibbon
Gayle to produce guidelines for writing effective Substack posts.
Propose a joint meeting with the ACF Brisbane Northside on July 7 about Substack and how to use it.
It was suggested that everyone fill out their Substack profile even if you don’t create a publication. That way people can find and connect with you. For more, see this article on my personal substack. The name of the author(s) and link(s) to their profile page is on each post on Regen Brisbane.
Co-authors of a Substack appear on the About page https://regenbrisbane.substack.com/about - if they choose to. Ask for an invitation and then accept on the email if you want to appear on that page.
Everyone should connect with each other on Linkedin.
Green Heart Fair - It was easy to add Regen Brisbane to the Shady Lanes / ACF Brisbane Northside last month using laminated posters downloaded from the DEAL website. No additional cost or resources needed. We will do it again next year.
For future discussion
The idea of a special section of the regular Zoom meeting for one person to give a short presentation on their field of interest with a Q&A was raised. This could be as part of the fortnightly RegenBrisbane zoom, stand-alone public events open to a wider audience, or in-person events at a library.
Penny raised the idea of comedy as a way to get difficult messages through.
A mapping of existing repair cafes and similar enterprises was suggested.
Andy has some proposals for projects that combine art and science.
Clarification & Notes
The zoom later tonight (11pm) for me, and afternoon for Michelle is the CONNECTS / Strategic Doing weekly zoom - details of tonight’s. To find out more about Strategic Doing, start here.
I have deliberately called this a Zoom conversation, not a meeting.
A copy of the chat will be emailed to all who attended.
This document will be posted to the Substack (and so is public) and, in the process, emailed automatically to all Regen Brisbane subscribers.
